Welcome to Barrowland Ballroom
Nestled in the heart of Glasgow's East End, throughout the decades The Barrowland Ballroom has stood as a beacon music venue and one of the key focal points in the heart of this city's diverse cultural landscape. Affectionately known as "The Barras," this iconic venue boasts a strong heritage starting from its establishment in 1934. Whether a local or a visitor, The Barrowland Ballroom provides an experience of a lifetime, defining all that is truly Glaswegian.
A Brief History
Maggie McIver owned and built the Barrowland Ballroom as a dance hall. Known as "The Barras Queen," she founded the famous Barras Market. The venue easily became a sensation of dancing and live music, with crowds flowing in from all over the city and beyond.
Rebuilt and reopened in 1960 after it was damaged by a fire in 1958, the neon sign on the building with a carpet of stars became an icon of Glasgow. After almost 80 years, the Barrowland Ballroom has firmly established itself as one of the UK's favorite and most exciting live venues with legendary performances from David Bowie, U2, Oasis, and many others.

The sprung dance floor is a very original feature that is seldom found at modern venues, attracting with its charm and energy and plays the correspondence role for both artists and their audiences.
With a capacity of approximately 2,100, the theatre offers an intimate environment in which it is nearly impossible for concert-goers to not relate to performers. Coupled with its iconic neon signage, the Ballroom's vibrant decor ensures that every stay in this space is one with pizzazz.
